I am excited to receive Honorable Mention for my painting "Going to Market" in this years annual Artists Magazine international art competition. You can see all the winners here.
Classic Realism with Modern Sensibilities
I collect moments. If you look through my collection you'll see paintings of people I've met, places I've been, and things I've seen. With a background in classical realism, it's important for me to paint moments realistically. But solely painting realism feels incomplete, and I find that it can become a bit too academic. It's not only about the visual recreation that is my intention in oil painting. I want to make my audience feel they are walking down a rainy street, climbing up a sun drenched hill, or sitting in front of a loved one. I want a viewer to feel the moments I collect.
I have been an artist all my life, but it wasn't until 2009 when I started oil painting. My main focus has always been realism art, and oils give me the ability to render realistically while adding the ability to incorporate Impressionism and Expressionism techniques. Since working as a professional artist my subject matter has expanded to encompass portraiture, figurative art, cityscapes painting, landscape painting, and still lifes. I am currently based in San Francisco, but have had commissions and sold paintings internationally. If you are looking for a commission portrait artist, or are trying to find oil paintings for sale, please feel free to contact me. Thanks for your interest in my art!
